Job description

As the Sales Engineer Trainer, MENA for OVID®, a Wolters Kluwer Health business, you will be responsible for providing excellent, and timely technical services to customers, and sales managers in their assigned regions – through high level technical pre & post sales assistance and training. Working in close co-operation with the regional sales director and sales managers, the Sales Engineer Trainer assists in the regional account planning and is assigned to technical projects and responsibilities in order to meet the sales objectives of the region. Based in our office in Dubai, UAE, and reporting into the National Sales Manager MENA, your responsibilities will include,  but not be limited to.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Train existing, and prospective, customers on our proprietary OvidSP software search platform (70%)
  • Provide Sales Engineering support to customers in both pre- and post sales efforts so as to meet and exceed customer expectations – while being alert to commercial service opportunities. (30%)
  • Work with the local sales managers to retain our current customers via timely and proactive renewal procedures and implementation audits.
  • Implementations (optimizing the configuration) and integration projects (e.g. linking or authentication). Provide technical services/projects for customers (trial websites and access portals).
  • Technical account management for selected key-accounts for the Academic, Medical and Corporate markets, as described in the account planning process for your regions
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Global Technical Support team.
  • Manage the information flow from customers and partners ensuring that bugs and enhancements are communicated to all concerned and fixed appropriately.  Assist in the maintenance of, and input to FAQ’s on software issues and bugs.
  • Manage the relationships with distributor/partner technicians
  • Work collaboratively across multiple business groups – including Global training team, Support Technical services, and product management teams to share information and best practice.
  • Utilising the electronic systems to ensure that all enquiries are logged for all Ovid staff members to view.
  • Attend exhibitions to set up demonstration hardware, and provide technical expertise.
  • Aid in the creation of demonstration resources for software products and client focused services.
  • Acquire and maintain a deep technical understanding of Ovid and non-Ovid products and technology.
  • Plan and manage the running of training courses on all relevant Ovid products, user interfaces and administrative tools for a wide range of users (both internal and external).
  • Manage the production of tailor-made course material, which will disseminate product knowledge to all trainees. This training course material will be designed specifically for each course to facilitate the trainees in the use of Ovid Technologies products in their respective roles.
  • Produce training documents and aids which describe and illustrate databases, products or features (for employees or for customers or for use in demonstrations or trials). These documents may consist of presentations, scripts or other media.
  • Provide training certification for both third party companies and distributors.
  • With the Manager, Global Training, manage and plan the training resources that will be required for the production of training materials and delivering the training courses.
  • Maintain links with other organizations (professional societies, user groups) to promote Ovid Technologies presence in the user community.
  • Assist with escalation of local IT support issues for office staff to appropriate internal IT groups
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
 

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills and Experience required:
 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience – a degree in library science would be highly desirable
  • Experience of the installation, configuration, integration and problem support of multi-user Electronic Library Applications and their associated databases would be highly desirable
  • Experience with PC hardware, MS Windows and software applications such as MS Office and Internet Browsers
  • Experience supporting applications that are mission-critical and of high availability, solutions that involve technologies/protocols such as CGI, z39.50, Open URL, Web/content servers (Sharepoint, tomcat), HTTP, HTML, RSS, JavaScript , SOAP/XML and Web Services
  • General knowledge of Internet and network technologies and protocols.  Ideally including knowledge of: FTP, Telnet, basic UNIX commands, authentication methods, and Firewalls.
  • Experienced in training on complex systems, or similar products, and of presenting to a diverse audience
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Spoken arabic language - mandatory
  • Excellent presentation, communication and persuasive skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills – ability to express information in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Ability to drive a technical project in all its aspects to succesfull completion
  • Well organised and self motivated
  • Team player – ability to develop working relationships within a team, has a flexible and supportive approach to team working
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Prepared to travel regularly within the above mentioned regions (between 50-75% - will vary by quarter)
