Location Risk Manager - LRU WM MENA

Job description
The
Local Risk Unit (LRU) supports local Management in managing the risks
in the location, including taking effective remediation actions in
response to identified risk issues. The LRU ensures an effective risk
management framework and organizational structure, and provides a
holistic and integrated view and oversight on all risk related topics.
The LRU will work very closely with the management and help them to
identify and analyze risk issues, provide a risk assessment based on the
control results and provide the respective risk reporting. The LRU will
support the Location Management in creating a solid risk culture and
effective risk management which enables them to position the business
even stronger for the future.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement and comply with the WM Internal Control Framework in a transparent, objective and timely manner
• Adapt design where locally required and implement global minimum control standards (including risk metrics) and locally required controls; ensure clear control procedures, including evidencing and escalation
• Contribute to the effectiveness of Local Risk Governance Structure (facilitate the LRCC, supports the local management certification process (e.g. ICAP) and prepares the location Risk Reporting)
• Perform controls and oversee the location F2B risk taking activities across all functions and check completeness/effectiveness of the location's control framework
• Take ownership of the risk subjects that are part of the regulatory reporting and monitor the regulatory changes
• Expert advice and guidance on development, implementation and maintenance of risk policies, procedures and controls
• Coordinate, communicate and support the implementation of operational risk related initiatives
• Evaluate location operational risk profile, in accordance with taxonomy, considering qualitative indicators with potential impact on risks and internal controls (e.g. environmental and regulatory changes, HR aspects, projects etc.)
• Monitor implementation of risk mitigating measures; establish process to escalate and mitigate excess of residual risk
• Acts as risk manager and consultant on operational risk to the business
Requirements
• University and/or higher education degree
• 5+ years experience in Risk Management functions and/or excellent Operational Risk Control knowledge or experience from an international financial services firm
• Very good analytical skills and know-how re operational risk issues and risk assessment and remediation, forensics audit work an advantage
• Good knowledge of Wealth Management, its structures, processes and products
• Reliable and independent work attitude, resilience and versed in dealing with challenging situations and conversations.
• High level of detail orientation whilst conserving a good overview and strong sense for key issues ('can connect the dots')
• Ability to work under pressure. Possess can-do attitude and good team player
• Fluent in English (both written and oral)
• Very good knowledge of MS Office-Applications (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
