Technical Sales Specialist (Sales Engineer) for Safety and Security EMEA
Reports To: Manager, Safety and Security EMEA, Global Safety and Security 
Career Band: III/IV

Position Summary: 
We are seeking a Technical Sales Specialist (Sales Engineer) for Portable Analytical Instruments Safety and Security vertical in Europe, Middle East, and Africa who can be part of a matrix organization team that aggressively drives our growth over the next 5 years. The successful candidate will possess a blend of sales and technical skills; he or she will be highly technical and scientific, yet a creative and entrepreneurial sales professional who can effectively assist in selling analytical safety and security products in the EMEA region across multiple public safety and military organizations.
The position is customer-facing and the ideal candidate should be able to successfully articulate complex scientific concepts and technical value propositions to non-technical stakeholders, such as government administrators and contract specialists. Conversely, he or she should be able to hold advanced and detailed technical and scientific conversations with highly technical, doctorate-level stakeholders, such as government test and evaluation scientists. These unique communication skills should be aimed at influencing and winning competitive government tenders.
We seek a proven individual able to work cooperatively across territories, leveraging success in one region to grow another. He or she should leverage technical knowledge and contacts to generate new business. This person will also have strong organization skills, managing competitive test and evaluations from design of procedures and methods to successful execution. Lastly, we seek someone with experience working with channel partners and distributors, who can effectively harness the collective resources of a team toward a common goal.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist in achieving EMEA S&S quarterly and annual sales quotas by providing technical and scientific support to sales managers, channel partners, and customers. Leverage technical knowledge and contacts to generate new business.
  • Be able to articulate in both technical and common terms the value proposition of S&S products, and the key differentiators over our competitors, to stakeholders of all backgrounds and education levels.
  • Lead overall win strategy and closely manage all product tests and evaluations, especially those associated with large opportunities.
  • Conduct customer training workshops or training event associated with significant or strategic sales opportunities.
  • Maintain an effective communications bridge between Product Management, Engineering, and Applications for the timely and accurate update of relevant information to sales managers, channel partners and customers.
  • Use technical problem-solving acumen to analyze customer issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Review EMEA S&S business plan and sales strategies and provide input from a technical perspective.
  • Provide customer, partner, and sales feedback from the field back to product management, engineering and applications.
  • Develop, train and manage channel partners. Increase technical expertise.
  • Work closely with the North America Military and Federal Team and partner countries to drive growth of Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Foreign Military Funding (FMF), DOS (Department of State), and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS).
  • Provide technical support and training to schoolhouses and training centers, such as NATO, EUROPOL and EOD Centers of Excellence.
  • Represent the company at regional industry conferences and trade show events.
  • Understand and significantly influence the customer’s decision-making process and lead the customer to positive decisions on sales proposals.
  • Monitor and provide on-going information concerning competitive marketing/sales strategies.
  • Provide first level in-region technical telephone and computer Reachback support, 24/7 (emergencies only).

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering, or science field.
  • 5 years of technical or sales experience in related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; highly organized; and excellent communicator and public presenter.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficient in English, oral and written.
  • Resides in EMEA region.
  • 50%+ travel.

Preferred Qualifications (Minimum qualifications plus): 
  • MS or Doctorate in technical, engineering, or science field.
  • 10 years of technical sales experience in public safety, government, and military.
  • Experience selling analytical solutions such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, narcotics, and explosives detection and identification equipment.
  • Experience with FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy, and related software such as GRAMS.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit to manage technical customer-facing projects from start to finish with successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated results in growing a business or expanding a market.
  • Multilingual.
  • Resides in the MENA region.
