Job description

To create, manage and continually develop the dnata Safety Management System (SMS), standardised Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment programme, and safety policies and procedures across all dnata businesses and use these systems to predict and eliminate the potential adverse events and ensure business continuity, crisis and emergency response planning is developed, implemented and tested.

Job OutlinePLAN
  • Recommends improvements to safety policy and directs the implementation of procedures and controls including crisis management; emergency response and business continuity plans for dnata globally
  • Develops; maintains and implements the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) policy and practical implementation of safety risk assessments across dnata businesses
  • Oversees the development of the dnata Risk Register and ensures that the data is updated at all times and hazards are identified so that the accurate risk information is relayed to the senior management
  • Develops the SMS audit plan and monitors the progress against assigned plans
  • Facilitates and oversees the selection and the implementation of the Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs); Safety Performance Targets (SPTs) across dnata Safety Board; Management Team and Workforce Steering Committee
  • Develops and manages the SMS programme including continuous improvement in the regulatory and organisational changes to align with the safety regulations across dnata businesses
  • Creates and maintains the Safety Management System Manual; Safety Procedures Manual and related procedures for dnata to align with the current regulatory; dnata and HSE requirements
  • Reviews the Manuals continuously to ensure that the updated and reviewed safety codes of practices are integrated

  • LEAD
    • Reviews the developed safety strategy and application of the safety communications; training and promotions to ensure that they are aligned with the SMS requirements

    EXECUTE
    • Develops monthly reports on safety activities to reflect safety data for common repetitive threats and coordinates investigation; recommendations and actions on reported safety incidents
    • Manages the continual development and analyses of Human Factors (HF) related issues within the dnata businesses and coordinates with the wider Emirates Groups to share and compare data on HF issues
    • Assists in the on-going technical development of dnata?s safety reporting system to ensure that the required information is captured and updated
    • Analyses and assesses findings raised from the audit results; root case analysis; corrective actions in order to recommended changes to the risk register and working practices
    • Performs duties as an SMS Manager for dnata Line Maintenance & ULD Repair as required by EASA; GCAA; and other NAAs
    • Reviews all the departmental purchasing and servicing /maintenance requirement of any tooling or equipment to ensure that alignment with the required safety standards
    • Liaises with training to ensure that the training packages for staff operating complex equipment especially on and around aircraft or other areas to ensure that the required training is provided
    • Communicates and liaises with external agencies to benchmark and ensure the continual development of Human Factors and the SMS to influence internal best practice
    • Qualifications & Experience
      • Bachelor Degree in a related field preferably Safety Management
      • 8-10 years of experience within a National Regulatory Authority, an aircraft operator or approved maintenance organisation Safety and/or Quality Assurance departments
      • Knowledge of global safety and security accreditations such as ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations), IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit), and TAPA (Transport Asset Protection Association).
      • Up-to-date knowledge of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Safety Management Manual, EASA/GCAA/other NAA SMS Regulations, ISO safety requirements.
      • Knowledge of EASA/GCAA mandatory and voluntary safety reporting processes e.g. EASA MOR, GCAA ROSI & VORSY systems
