Job description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for day to day management of the IT department and its staff, as well as coordinates with projects relating to system development and/or equipment which fall under the responsibility of the IT department.
The IT Manager is responsible for directing and managing the daily operations and projects of the computer operations department and also responsible for leading the IT team, to efficiently and effectively carry out IT projects and support the company’s users with company communication and IT infrastructure and systems.
 
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Plans, directs and manages the daily operations of a computer operations department.
  • Manage the Maintenance and development of the company’s’ ERP “Microsoft Dynamics NAV”
  • Responsible for operation of datacenter and exterior information system equipment.
  • Leads a team of support personnel who troubleshoot IT issues.
  • Implements policies and procedures regarding how problems are identified, received, documented, distributed, and corrected
  • Ability to gain an understanding of operational processes and needs as it relates to technology and communication equipment and work effectively with operational management in the coordination of IT projects and identifying operational technology needs.
  • Evaluates new information systems products or services and suggests changes to existing products or services to better aide the business needs.
  • Ensures proper functioning of company’s information processing system and makes upgrades as necessary
  • Helps business operations utilize information systems to improve efficiency
  • Plan that computer equipment’s, hardware, and software are updated to meet organizational needs.
  • Maintains working relationships with vendors and third party providers, ensuring contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis
  • Recommends appropriate maintenance strategies to ensure uninterrupted systems usage and proper backup and recovery procedures are adhered to.
  • Recommends adjustments to systems and/or equipment to ensure cost efficient and effective systems/equipment infrastructure
  • Keeps current with technology updates to ensure technology opportunities are taken advantage of, whether the opportunities relate to speed, improved processing, cost efficiencies, etc.

  • Understands duties and responsibilities, has necessary job knowledge, has necessary technical skills, understands company mission/values, keeps job knowledge current, is in command of critical issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate technology, infrastructure & process needs and requirements with all personnel levels; oral and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects a work with multiple levels of staff.
     
 
Education and or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, specializing in Information Technology
  • 5 years related experience in the field of Information Technology and Project management.
  • experience in software development environment and use of current technologies, such as Virtualization and complex systems is preferable
  • 5 years’ experience managing personnel
