EARNINGS ALERT: Amazon misses 2Q profit estimates

Amazon on Thursday reported second-quarter profit below analysts' estimates. The e-commerce giant's net income rose to $2.63 billion, or $5.22 per share, in the quarter ended June 30. Wall Street analysts were expecting a profit of $5.57 per share.
